Macbeth Summary
Enter the Witches, Macbeth and Banquo
Shakespeare’s Macbeth opens with a mysterious scene in which a group of witches are discussing where next to meet. The play then cuts to a discussion between generals Macbeth and Banquo as they return home from winning a battle for their king.
What is Being Said:
Witch 1 – When shall we three meet again.
Witch 2 – When the hurlyburly’s done. When the battle is lost and won.
Narrator – After successfully quelling a rebellion for King Duncan, Macbeth & Banquo were returning home.
Macbeth – So foul and fair a day I have not seen.
Banquo – General, look over there… what are they?
